Battle of the big men

25/07/2008 1:00:00 AM
THE Queanbeyan Kangaroos can secure a spot in the Canberra Raiders Cup top four this weekend with a win over the third placed West Belconnen Warriors.

A log-jam at the top with the Queanbeyan Blues, Warriors and Kangaroos all equal on 17 points vying for outright second makes Sunday's game crucial in carving out a clear top position.

The game is set to be an epic battle of the big men with the Roos forwards out to prove a point after a poor performance against the Warriors the last time the two teams met.

Roos captain coach Adam Taylor said the main focus will be on the forwards.

''The last time we played them we had just come off two good wins and thought we could just shut up shop on them and we got given a lesson,'' Taylor said.

''We just went into the game with the wrong attitude so we'll make sure that doesn't happen again.

''The forwards have got to be dominant because we go outmuscled last time.

''So if the forwards can stand-up we should be alright.''

Coming off a strong 22-16 win against the Tuggeranong Bushrangers last week the Roos could snatch second if they can defeat Warriors.

The Roos held off the fast finishing Bushrangers to give themselves a chance at finals football.
