THE Queanbeyan Whites
head to Griffith Oval
tomorrow to face off
against Easts as they look
for their third straight win
to start the year.
Easts have been somewhat
of a bogey side for
Queanbeyan over the last
few years, and despite his
team's strong start to the
season, coach Glen Christini
expects a bruising
encounter.
''It'll be very physical up
front, they usually rip into
us with everything they've
got - they're very tough at
the breakdown,'' Christini
said.
''We've gone to Griffith
before thinking we should
be winning and come away
with nothing. ''
After downing Gungahlin
by five points in the first
round of this year's competition,
Easts lost to Wests
in a 42-40 thriller last
weekend.
The Whites sent a chilling
warning to the rest of
the competition on
Saturday when they
recorded a 41-7 points victory
over the Tuggeranong
Vikings.
Christini further
enhanced his team's
standing when he
indicated there was still
plenty of room for
improvement.
''If we perform like we're
performing now in August
it's not quite going to be
enough, we need to keep
improving and staying on
top of things,'' he said.
''There were aspects of
our game on Saturday that
were average, our lineouts
were poor and some of our
finishing was sub-
standard, we probably
blew about four or five tries
that could have and should
have been scored.
''We've given ourselves a
really good opportunity to
get ahead of the pack.''
