QUEANBEYAN City is
hoping a week off the football
pitch will help turn
their fortunes around when
they host an undefeated
Canberra FC this Sunday at
Riverside Stadium.
On paper, things don't
look good for City - a team
yet to register a point this
year up against the reigning
premier and in-form Canberra
FC.
But Queanbeyan captain
Goran Noveski said his
team would lift for the
contest.
''We're all looking forward
to the game and we
usually play better against
the better teams,'' Noveski
said.
''Most of our guys are
looking to improve to show
they're good enough to be
in the side, and we need to
do something to fix our
season.''
Despite their horror start
to the season, a win for
Queanbeyan would more
than likely move them off
the foot of the table with
Canberra City and Woden
Valley also struggling in this
year's premier league.
Noveski said it would be
good to get a result at home
this weekend before heading
into an easier section of
the draw.
''We know we'll probably
move up if we win, and it
would be a good way to
head into the next few
games which get a bit easier
after this,'' he said.
''Obviously we need to
improve but I still think we
can finish higher than last
year.''
